JOB SUMMARY
The IT Intern will be responsible for daily installations, troubleshooting, and providing support for the City of Mandan's technology systems. This role offers hands-on experience in assisting the IT Department with a variety of tasks, including supporting computer-related projects and ensuring the smooth operation of the City's technological infrastructure. The intern will play a key role in addressing technology needs and contributing to the efficient management and administration of IT systems for the City of Mandan.
MAJOR DUTIES
Provides technical support to users, ensuring smooth operation of City IT systems.
Assists with the Citys end-user computing systems, maintaining optimal functionality and compliance with security standards.
Performs the setup, installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and updating of IT hardware, including desktops, laptops, printers, and scanners.
Aids in the organization and management of user accounts for network access, data storage, and email as directed.
Performs clerical tasks as needed, such as printing, compiling data, inputting information, photocopying, answering phones, scanning, filing, and other administrative duties.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED BY THE POSITION
Knowledge of the basic principles and practices of IT programs.
Knowledge of computers and job-related software programs.
Skill in collecting, testing and organizing data.
Ability to learn policies, activities, and procedures of the IT programs.
Ability to learn basic standards of maintenance of network, software, and server needs.
Ability to follow oral and written communication.
Ability to explain technical problems and implement solutions to those without technological training.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the public
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with working towards the completion of a degree in a course of study related to the position.
Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or coursework in a related field.
Possession of or ability to obtain a valid drivers license for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
