Washburn B-160 Sonny Smith Resonator Banjo. 2011

Washburn Sonny Smith B-160 Model - purchased from Sonny on ebay new. I had a B-120 and was looking to upgrade at the time, and it was a big improvement in many ways but I ended up clawhammer more than fingerpicks and stuck with it, purchased an openback and this rarely gets played. Super nice condition, very little evidence of use other than a bit of staining on the white head.

The Washburn B160 is the result of collaboration between Washburn and banjo virtuoso Sonny Smith. The B160 features a bell brass tone ring with embossed flower design, a Remo drum head and flame maple resonator. Weighing in at 12.6 pounds, this banjo has great projection and tone. The maple neck is wider with a wider fingerboard to accommodate for bigger fingers. Deluxe split block inlays give this banjo a vintage look. The 5th string nut has been moved between the 5th and 6th fret for improved tone, sustain and intonation.

Other features include:

Rosewood fingerboard

Maple bass with Rosewood tip bridge

Tension tailpiece

Comes complete with the original Wasburn hard shell case

This banjo is in overall excellent condition both playability and wear wise. The only wear is a some hand staining on the drum head. Theres virtually no fret wear, no dings or scratches on the back of the resonator or headstock. This is a very clean instrument.
